  • Air Astana Amends the Schedule and Flight Route to Kiev Following the Malaysia Airlines Aircraft Crash

Air Astana expresses its deepest condolences to the relatives and friends of the passengers on board of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 that crashed enroute from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur on July 17, 2014. Peter Foster, the President of Air Astana, contacted the Airlines Chief Executive Officer to convey his condolences to all affected and offered full support in the transportation of experts and relatives of the victims to Kiev as well as support on the ground in Ukraine.

None of the Air Astana flights have been overflying the Donetsk route in East Ukraine where the accident occurred yesterday. The Atyrau-Amsterdam-Atyrau flights used to fly the North Ukraine route and as precaution the airline changed the routing with immediate effect to avoid the use of Ukrainian airspace in its entirety.

In view of these developments, Air Astana has temporarily suspended its Astana – Kiev flights. However, the airline will operate 3 weekly Almaty – Kiev- Almaty services, provided that the permission to operate the new route that runs primarily over the Russian Federation will be granted by Russian aeronautical authorities. Passengers booked on the flights to Kiev, may apply to their travel agent or Air Astana offices for a full refund or rebook their flights to future dates without any charges.
