  • Air Astana Cancels Its Flight to Thailand on 26 November Due to Closure of Suvranabhumi International Airport

    On 26 of November, Suvranabhumi International Airport of Bangkok was closed due to political unrest. The schedule time of departure of KC931 from Almaty to Bangkok was 0850 am but since the airport was temporarily closed until 1800hrs, Air Astana took the decision to cancel KC931 and KC932.

    113 passengers were supposed to fly by flight KC 931. Airline’s agents gave beverages to passengers during the period of flight’s delay and were providing the passengers with all latest information. There were 129 passengers on the flight KC932 flying from Bangkok to Almaty. Air Astana representatives are trying to do their best to provide comfortable conditions for passengers who are forced to stay abroad tonignt.

    Air Astana has taken measures to help all passengers travelling to/from Thailand with free rebooking, rerouting or cancellations of their itinerary until end of the week. To cancel, rebook or change a booking please contact your travel agent or visit our airport or city office. In order to rebook or cancel flights free of charge, passengers are required to apply in writing with the original ticket.     The same decision was taken to support compatriots and foreign citizens affected by the fears of visiting during the interim difficulties in the social and political situation in Thailand in the beginning of September. The numbers of bookings were very small.

    Peter Foster, President of Air Astana JSC: “Will do all possible to help passengers that are stranded in Thailand because of political situation. Although this is situation beyond our control we will try to obtain the best hotel and transport rates for stranded passengers. We urge all those who have not traveled to review their holiday plans and Air Astana will offer full refunds until further notice for people wishing to cancel”.
