General information

Air Astana allows transportation of small cats and dogs (to 8 kg) and aquarian small fishes as PETC (in the passenger cabin), cats and dogs in weight more than 8 kg as a baggage in a cargo compartments (AVIH).
Birds and rodents are strictly forbidden to be transported in salon or a luggage compartment as registred luggage. Transportation of birds and rodents is carried out through cargo department, only as cargo.

The transportation of animals must be advised to and is always subject to confirmation by Air Astana.

Animals are always subject to preliminary booking 24 hour prior to departure via travel agent or Air Astana Special Services Desk (special.services@airastana.com).

Fishes are always subject to preliminary booking 24 hour prior to departure via travel agent or Air Astana Special Services Desk (special.services@airastana.com), with specifying of the size of capacity, number of small fishes and their weight (it is no more 8 kg with capacity). It must be noticed that without confirmation and preliminary booking Air Astana can not guarantee carriage of pets.

 

The container provided for the animal must be strong enough so that the pet cannot escape during the journey. The container must also be durable with leak proof bottom and holes for feeding and ventilation. If the container has wheels, they must be removed or rendered inoperable. The container must also be large enough to permit it to stand upright and lie down comfortably in its natural position.
Necessary document for pet transporting
  1. Pet’s passport
  2. Vacctinary certificate
  3. Cheep or tattoo for pet edification (for European Countries)
Annotation: pt 3 is not necessary for travelling in Kazakhstan and to Russia.

It is absolutely mandatory that acceptance of booking and acceptance for transportation will only be granted if the accompanying person is presenting all the necessary papers. Otherwise transportation of pet animal will be denied without any exemptions.

Requirements to transportation of small fishes:
- 1 aquarium or a glass jar with a cover (with apertures for air) with a minimum quantity of the water necessary for transportation of small fishes.
- It is strictly forbidden to transport small fishes in plastic packages.

Additional important information for international flights

Due to the fact that the transportation of animals is connected to some strict regulations and requirements of particular country of departure/destination, pets may be carried as cargo only to/from UAE.

Limitation on number of pet units by aircraft type

Pets are carried as follows in the Air Astana scheduled traffic. The limitations on number of pet units by aircraft type:

*Note: NO AVIH allowed on A320.

PETC (pet animals transported in the passenger cabin)

For PETC the maximum weight is 8 kg (17 lb.) for a pet/pet unit including the container. Only one container per passenger is allowed.

The maximum size of the container is 30 x 47 x 27 cm for 320/321/757/767 aircraft and 29 x 43 x 26 cm for F50 aircraft in order to place the container under the seat of the chair.

For transportation of small dogs and cats a soft bag that has been designed for transportation of is recommended. These pet travel bags are available at most pet shops. Other type of soft bags may not be used for PETC transportation. It shall also be noted that when coming from the UK, PETC may be accepted only in a cage.

AVIH (pet animals transported as a baggage in the cargo holds)

For AVIH the maximum weight is 50 kg including the weight of the container. Animals exceeding this weight limit shall be shipped as cargo under Air Waybill. Pets over 40 kg must be carried in strong wooden containers.

Air Astana stations at Almaty & Astana airport sells plastic sky kennels suitable for the domestic transportation of cats and dogs in the aircraft hold. There are, when available, six sizes:

Model 500 101 x 68 x 76 cm 13,0 kg model 500 is not suitable for F50 compartments
Model 700 122 x 81 x 88 cm model 700 is suitable only for B752 compartments

For AVIH a maximum of two animals of comparable size up to 14 kg each, that are used to cohabitation, may be shipped in the same container. Animals over that weight must travel individually. Animals up to six months old from the same litter, up to a maximum quantity of three, may be shipped in the same container.

Annotation: Animal transportation is strictly prohibited on A 320 due to no heating in a cargo compartments. Please advice to you ticket agent to confirm aircraft witch will be operated before booking pet transportation
