Carriage of Special Equipment
Sports Equipment
If you are going to take sports equipment to your travel such as:
Ski
Please be advised that ski/snowboard doesn’t require pre-booking.
It must be properly packed and will be transported as checked baggage in the cargo holds.
If weight of ski or snowboard is more than free allowance 20kg in Y class and 30 kg in J class, it must be paid (depending on the route).
One package may consist:
- a pair of ski
- a pair of ski poles
- a pair of ski boots
Snowboard
Surfboard must be properly packed, transported as checked baggage in the cargo hold. Snowboard over 140 cm up to 5 kg are required to pay excess baggage tariff, according its actual weight. Fixed fares 2000 KZT on domestic flights and 25 EUR on international flights must be paid for snowboards over 140 cm and up to 5 kg weight (under this free of charge).Pre-booking is required.
Canoe
Canoe must be properly packed for transportation. Special sports tariff will be paid KZT 4000 or Euro 50, pre-booking is required.
Annotation: Air Astana regrets that this highly sensitive item can only be transported on presentation of declaimer of liability.
Bicycle
Please be advised that only 1 bicycle per passenger is allowed. Bike should be properly packed for transportation; if there is possibility the pedals must be removed and also properly packed.
Special sporting rate - Euro 50(international routes) or KZT 4000(domestic routes).
Golf equipment
Golf equipment does not require pre-booking. It must be properly packed and transported in the cargo compartment.
Normal charge for golf equipment is 2000 KZT and 5000 KZT (25 EUR) on domestic and international flights accordingly.
Diving Equipment
Diving equipment does not require pre-booking. Normal charge for diving equipment is 2000 KZT and 25 EUR on domestic and international flights accordingly.
Sport weapons

Musical Instruments and Fragile Items
If you are going to travel with musical instruments such as violoncello or contrabass should be ordered an extra seat for it.
Maximum weight for per 1 seat – 75 kg. Max size 120x50x30
Guitar, saxophone or the same sized musical instruments are transported as checked baggage in the cabin. Fragile items with weight max 75 kg and max size 120x50x30 an extra seat must be ordered also. Pre-booking is required.
Annotation: please be advised that TV and home technique is not suitable for transportation in the cabin. Please advise with Cargo Department.
