28 Feb 2007     Arrival of Boeing 767 (P4-KCA)
A new page in the history of Air Astana has started with the acquisition of the first “wide-body” aircraft for the company. The aircraft is a Boeing B767-300ER. “ER” stands for “Extended Range”. It has two main engines each producing up to over 27 Tonnes of thrust and can fly up to 11300 m at approximately 850km/h.

Thick fog at Almaty Airport, affected a total of 58 Air Astana flights from 7am on the 8 February. As a consequence of the unfavorable weather conditions approximately 3500 passengers were stranded at Almaty airport.

Air Astana, exhibited at the World Travel Market at London’s Excel Centre from the 6-9 November 2006. Coming at a time of rapid expansion, the airline took advantage of WTM to showcase its new onboard products, new cabin crew uniforms, increased frequencies and new brand identity.

To protect you against the new threat of liquid explosives, the European Union (EU) has adopted new security rules that restrict the amount of liquids that you can take through security checkpoints. They apply to all passengers departing from airports in the EU whatever their destination.

03 Nov 2006     Dubai flights increased to a daily service.
Effective 7-Nov-2006 the frequency of Air Astana flights from Almaty to Dubai will be increased from the current 5 flights per week to daily flights.

30 Oct 2006     Air Astana to change flight code to KC
On the 29th of October Air Astana will officially change its 2 character IATA (International Air Transport Association) code from 4L to KC. This will result in the names of all flight being changed with immediate effect at midnight between the 28th and 29th Kazakhstan time. (Example: Flight 4L886 becomes Flight KC886)

02 Aug 2006     Air Astana on course with third Airbus A320 delivery
Air Astana, the flag carrier of the Republic of Kazakhstan, officially took delivery of a brand new Airbus A320, straight from the assembly line today. This is the third of four, A320 acquisitions planned for the year, bringing the total fleet to 15. With this new addition, Air Astana is on target to realising its major fleet expansion plan of 34 aircrafts by 2014

05 Jun 2006     Air Astana Opens New Town Office in Central London
Air Astana opened a new city centre sales and marketing office in London on the 5th June 2006. The newly appointed Regional General Manager EU, USA and Canada, Mr Richard Ledger will be based in this office, with three additional sales and marketing personnel joining in the near future. The office will act as a base to coordinate increased consumer, corporate and travel trade sales initiatives, as well as an expanded marketing program.

In support of the development of the national language, Air Astana, partnering with Otrar Travel agency and the national newspapers Nachnem s Penedelnika and Azamat.kz, held a literary competition of original Kazakh prose entitled “On the Wings of a Dream.”

This year from the 2nd of May to the 5th of May Air Astana for the first time took part in a world wide known travel and tourism exhibition - ATM 06 (Arabian Travel Market), held annually in Dubai. This year the event celebrated its 13th successful year. The participants of exhibitions were companies that work in such spheres as travel, tourism and air carriages, and the number of the companies that participated this year exceeded 1, 750 from 59 countries.

At the present, Air Astana’s fleet consists of thirteen modern aircraft: three Boeing 737-700800, four Boeing 757-200, five Fokker-50, and one Airbus A320. From 2007 until 2011, Air Astana plans to purchase six new aircraft for its use. So by the year 2014, together with the planned acquisition of purchase options on the same quantity of aircraft, Air Astana’s fleet will make include 34 modern western jets. This number will include new wide-body long-range aircraft that will be used exclusively on flights to the countries of Europe and Asia. By this period 50% of machinery will be owned by Air Astana.

15 Mar 2006     Air Astana initiates fleet modernisation with A320 family aircraft
Air Astana, the national carrier of Kazakhstan and Central Asia’s leading international carrier, has initiated a major fleet modernisation programme with the official delivery of its first leased Airbus A320 aircraft. A further four leased A320s are scheduled to join the fleet in 2006.The new A320 fleet represents the first step in a major fleet expansion plan, which will see the fleet grow to more than thirty aircraft by 2014.

03 Sep 2004     Professionalism and quick thinking of Air Astana flight attendants saves the life of a two-year old girl
The 16th of August 2004 - the regular Air Astana flight Atyrau-Kyzylorda-Almaty. Flight attendants Eric Agzam and Saule Dukenbayeva are about to finish catering when one anxious passenger approaches them. She tells them that her two-year old daughter has suddenly stopped breathing and lost consciousness. The girl was ill with leukaemia and was travelling to London via Almaty for medical treatment.
