Air Astana to change flight code to KC

On the 29th of October Air Astana will officially change its 2 character IATA (International Air Transport Association) code from 4L to KC. This will result in the names of all flight being changed with immediate effect at midnight between the 28th and 29th Kazakhstan time. (Example: Flight 4L886 becomes Flight KC886)

KC stands for Kazakhstan Carrier.

This change is the latest development in Air Astana’s rapid growth road to becoming a world class airline.

Ranked as the fourth most rapidly developing airline in the world by Airline Business Magazine last year Air Astana has had an impressing development since its first flight in May 2002. In the less than 5 years Air Astana has increased its fleet from 3 up to 15 aircraft (all western), employed more than 1600 employees, and expanded its route network to include 24 domestic and 17 international destinations.

Further developments for the near future besides the increase of fleet and routes include the introduction of personal entertainment systems in business class, e-ticketing services and a frequent flyer programme. In addition Air Astana’s staff is regularly trained at international centres to guarantee best service and safety practices.

Air Astana airline is a full member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the only airline in Kazakhstan maintaining aircraft according to European Aviation Safety Association (EASA/Part 145)
